The
die at the center is the kernel. The
sockets around it are ports — one per thing the kernel depends on. The
chips seated in them are adapters, swappable per profile. The glowing lines descending from the
userland above are the six verbs, crossing the luminous
seam. Copper traces run the kernel to its adapters; the red line is a
Call leaving the universe.
